Campaign for the Return of the Parthenon Sculptures and the Reunification of the Monument

The time has come… holds a campaign- through the Internet and in general as well- sending a message for the Reunification of the Parthenon Marbles. The campaign is named “BRING THEM BACK!” and its history starts 209 years after 1801, when Lord Elgin decided to vandalize the Acropolis of Athens. The journey of “BRING THEM BACK!” starts in Athens, at the new Acropolis Museum and the Parthenon in order to spread all around the word… With just one click!

A goal of   “BRING THEM BACK!” is to sensitize and inform people, no matter what their country, continent and nationality is, about the history of one of the greatest World Heritage Monuments.

A goal of   “BRING THEM BACK!” is the parallel promotion of all the Committees, entities and efforts, having contributed so far to the return or reunification of the Parthenon Marbles in Greece.

A goal of   “BRING THEM BACK!” is to unite and not to divide.

A goal of  “BRING THEM BACK!” are the collective efforts until the 31st December 2010 in order to collect the largest number of signatures by citizens all around the world, sending their own loud message “BRING THEM BACK!” and state their own cultural values in the 21st century.

A goal of   “BRING THEM BACK!” is the official delivery of the evidence to the Greek Ministry of Culture and the representatives of the New Acropolis Museum as well as to the administration of the British Museum. Our ultimate goal from this moment on is perhaps the idea of collecting 1.000.000 personal signatures and the discussion around the matter of the petition, set in the European Parliament. The goal of this discussion is to put stress on  the matter of the return of the Marbles on an international level.

A goal of  “BRING THEM BACK!” is to manage to unite my cultural voice with your cultural voice.

The “BRING THEM BACK!” campaign has already set off from the vernal Athens, having as destination each corner of the world, with enthusiasm!

This is very bad but not unexpected in my humble opinion.
I just found out that the site of the initiative “Bring Them Back” and also that of the media site “Actclick” which created this movement of collecting signatures for the repatriation of the Parthenon Sculptures to their Home,
here in Athens Greece -for unknown to us reasons- IS DOWN.
Until three dayw go everything was allright. Signatures were well above 182.000 and continued rising.
There is no notice of possible technical problems or any maintenance works on the server, as is common. It just… vanished.
That’s all for now, I really want to be prooven wrong but…
    let’s stop kidding ourselves…

I am very happy to see that the site is back on, again! Although I would like to see one, there isn’t any notice as to why this interruprion occured for more than a month now. Be it…

    The efforts continue unabated…!
